Latest Playbook update brings Wi-Fi and pairing enhancements

Canadian mobile phone makers RIM has announced the release of new OS update for BlackBerry Tablet users

Mobile phone makers Research In Motion has just announced the release of a new platform version for its Blackberry Tablet PC users, BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0.7.2942. This new OS version comes with an important new feature called differential updates. With this feature only the latest flavor can be updated not a complete update of the platform. This helps in reducing the size as well as the time required for downloading and installing the new updates. 

“Note: BlackBerry PlayBook tablet users must already have BlackBerry Tablet OS v1.0.7.2670 installed to experience differential updates. Going forward, all BlackBerry PlayBook tablets running v1.0.7.2942 or higher will experience differential updates,” as stated by RIM. 

Besides this feature, the new OS flavor comes along with a series of improvements for two areas of the PlayBook, namely the Wi-Fi connectivity and the pairing with smartphones.  

After updating these updates BlackBerry tablet will provide improved Wi-Fi connectivity to WEP networks and faster pairing between a BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook tablet via the BlackBerry Bridge application. 

The new BlackBerry Tablet OS v1.0.7.2942 was already made available for download. Existing BlackBerry PlayBook tablet users will receive a notification on the availability of the new update, and will be offered the possibility to download and install it.
