Featuring Lilygo’s modular T-Embed platform, the T-Embed SI4732 merges the ESP32-S3 and a SI4732 radio receiver into a small and budget-friendly device. Although limited to being a radio receiver, this combo still offers AM, FM, SW, and LW frequencies in a retro green package.

For its latest entry, Lilygo has built upon its T-Embed platform to introduce a highly popular module, the SI4732. For those unfamiliar with the SI4732, it is a low-cost broadcast tuner and receiver that has found its way into many DIY radio projects due to its impressive cost-to-performance ratio and features. In addition to handling the standard FM and AM frequencies, the chip can receive Shortwave (2.3-26.1 MHz) and Longwave (153-279 kHz) and decode RDS for display on the T-Embed's panel. Additionally, the SI4732 is a low-power device with several automatic controls for optimizing tuning frequencies. Not to be outdone, the T-Embed itself brings even more features to the table.

At the heart of the T-Embed is an ESP32-S3 with its own wireless capabilities, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5. Additionally, users can easily program the T-Embed using both the Arduino-IDE and the ESP-IDF to extend the device's functionality. Other notable features of the T-Embed include:

  • 900 mAh battery
  • Rotary encoder for navigation
  • Microphone
  • TF card slot
  • ST7789 LCD

The T-Embed SI4732 also comes with an antenna to enhance device performance when using the radio receiver.

While the T-Embed might not have a massive battery, users can expect solid performance thanks to the low-power nature of T-Embed's components and overall customizability of the device. Currently, the T-Embed SI4732 is available for $39.96 on Lilygo's site and includes a foam-lined carrying case. Curious Users can find more information on the T-Embed SI4732 linked in the resources below.
