LG unveils S430 and S530 notebooks

These flashy notebooks will come in metallic, eye-catching colors with Sandy Bridge CPUs and discrete Radeon graphics

The South Korean company announced Friday two latest additions to its Aurora notebook lineup, the LG S430 and S530.

The 15.6-inch S530 will reportedly pack up to a Sandy Bridge Core i5 CPU with Radeon HD 6370M graphics, up to 8GB RAM with a 750GB HDD and a user-removable optical disk drive. The usual card reader, gigabit LAN, USB 2.0 and webcam are thrown in as well. The final weight is expected to be about 2.6kg (5.7 pounds). Screen resolution will top out at 1600x900 pixels while the smaller 14-inch S430 will go up to 1366x768 pixels only.

In terms of looks, the chassis will include a smooth reflective finish, called Crystalline Finish. The covering will make use of a NCVM (Non-Conductive Vapor Metallization) coating process in order to produce that extra-glossy and flashy metallic exterior. The styling won’t just be for looks as it is expected to strengthen the cover and improve scratch resistance as well. Two colors will be made available at launch, Aurora Purple and Aurora Blue.

Unfortunately, LG made no mention of prices for these notebooks. They will, however, be released in Asia, parts of Africa and in the Middle East early September before finally landing on Europe and North America sometime soon after.
