Intel NUC 12 Pro: Wall Street Canyon launches with Intel Alder Lake-P series processors
Intel has presented the NUC 12 Pro, a new mini-PC series offered with various Alder Lake-P series processors. Starting with the Core i3-1220P, the NUC 12 Pro can be configured up to a Core i7-1270P. For reference, the latter has twelve CPU cores, with four performance cores and eight efficiency cores operating on a 28 W TDP. Also, the 10 nm processor features an Iris Xe Graphics G7 iGPU with 96 Execution Units (EUs).
Like other Intel NUC mini-PCs, the NUC 12 Pro series is available in 'short' and 'tall' variants, which rise 37 mm and 54 mm from a desk, respectively. Fundamentally, the pair are the same machine; tall variants have space for a 2.5-inch HDD or SSD, plus an optional I/O expansion module. Conversely, short variants must make do with M.2-based storage instead. Additionally, all NUC 12 Pro models have two SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and the following ports:
- 1x 2.5 Gbps Ethernet
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 2x HDMI 2.0
- 2x Thunderbolt 4
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
Currently, the NUC 12 Pro series is available to pre-order from SimplyNUC, with shipments starting next month. Eventually, other retailers should offer the mini-PC series, which starts at US$749 on SimplyNUC with a Core i5-1240P processor or US$879 if you want a Core i7-1260P. SimplyNUC offers endless customisation options though, including various accessories and extended support services.
