Honor WIN 2 gets bespoke waterproof ratings despite dual cooling fans and gigantic battery

Honor has confirmed IP68, IP69 and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings for the WIN 2 series in a new promotional poster. The poster shows the WIN 2, which uses an active cooling system with two fans. As previously reported, the phone pairs a vertical cross-flow fan rated at 20,000 RPM with a side fan rated at 31,000 RPM. A fan grille sits inside the rear camera module, next to the two rear cameras.
According to Honor's fine print, the ratings come from tests under controlled laboratory conditions. The phone reaches IP69K under the ISO 20653:2023 standard, and IP68 and IP69 under China's GB/T 4208-2017 standard. Still, even with all those tests, the company reminds people that the WIN 2 is not a dedicated waterproof phone, that protection may degrade over time due to wear, and that the phone should not be charged while wet.
Honor has confirmed the Honor WIN 2's specifications ahead of launch. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and will feature a 6.89-inch 2K OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate and a 10,100mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.
Pre-orders are open on Honor's Chinese online store with a CNY 100 (about $14) deposit. The listing includes five memory configurations, ranging from 12GB + 256GB to 16GB + 1TB, in Red Blue Buff, Black and White. Honor will announce pricing at its launch event on October 21. Global availability has not been confirmed.
