A new leak suggests that Honor is preparing another battery-focused smartphone. What is assumed to be a Honor Power 3 could pair a battery as big as 12,000mAh with MediaTek’s upcoming 3 nm Dimensity 8600 chipset, potentially pushing battery capacity even further beyond current mainstream flagships.

According to information shared by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, Honor is developing the Power 3 as the successor to the Honor Power 2, which debuted earlier this year with a notably large 10,080mAh battery. The new model is said to raise capacity to around 11,000 or 12,000mAh, a figure that would place it well ahead of most Android phones currently on the market.

The leak also points to MediaTek’s Dimensity 8600 chipset, reportedly built on a 3 nm process. While detailed specifications for the SoC have not surfaced yet, the move to a newer manufacturing node - the Power 2 employs a 4 nm chip - could help make battery life even longer than a battery capacity increase alone would. Thermal management and charging speeds may become quite a headache for Honor's engineering team if final hardware approaches the leaked capacity figure.

Honor appears to be continuing its recent focus on high-endurance devices for the domestic Chinese market. The company introduced the Power 2 in January 2026 as part of a growing trend toward ultra-large silicon-carbon batteries, which allow manufacturers to increase capacity without a proportional increase in device thickness. Several Chinese brands, including Oppo and Realme, have recently moved beyond the 7,000mAh mark, though a 12,000mAh phone would still represent a significant jump.

The timing of the leak also lines up with Honor’s broader roadmap. The company is expected to refresh its flagship Magic series later this year before reportedly introducing additional gaming-oriented Win 2 models. If Honor keeps the same release cadence as the previous generation, the Power 3 could appear in early 2027.

As with early leaks, some caution is warranted. Battery figures disclosed during development do not always match commercial hardware, especially in devices where weight and thickness remain important selling points. Still, the report suggests that Chinese smartphone makers continue to treat battery life as a major area of differentiation, particularly as chipset gains become increasingly incremental year over year.

For now, the device appears to be aimed primarily at the Chinese market, where Honor has recently focused several of its high-capacity battery models. There is currently no information regarding a possible global release or international availability but chances are the global model will feature a smaller battery, which is currently the norm.
