CES 2016 | HP refreshes EliteBook 800 series with the 820, 840, and 850 G3
HP recently unveiled its AMD-only EliteBook 705 G3 series just a few months ago, but it left one thing in the air - Where are the Intel Skylake equivalents?
The manufacturer has finally lifted the curtains off of its third generation 12.5-inch EliteBook 820, 14-inch EliteBook 840, and 15.6-inch EliteBook 850. The three notebooks will sport nearly identical connectivity features and options including B&O speakers, improved keyboard with 1.5 mm travel, fingerprint reader, TPM 1.2/2.02, SmartCard reader, and MIL-STD 810G4 certification. A handful of the main specifications are:
EliteBook 820 G3:
- 12.5-inch HD/FHD with optional FHD touchscreen
- Intel Skylake Core i3/i5/i7 CPU options
- Intel HD Graphics 520
- VGA, RJ-45, USB 3.0, USB Type-C, DisplayPort
EliteBook 840 G3:
- 14.0-inch HD/FHD/QHD with optional FHD touchscreen
- Intel Skylake Core i5/i7 CPU options
- Intel HD Graphics 520
- VGA, RJ-45, USB 3.0, USB Type-C, DisplayPort
EliteBook 850 G3:
- 15.6-inch HD/FHD/UHD with optional FHD touchscreen
- Intel Skylake Core i5/i7 CPU options
- Intel HD Graphics 520 or Radeon R7 M365X GPU
- VGA, RJ-45, USB 3.0, USB Type-C, DisplayPort
While all sizes will have optical backlit keys, only the larger EliteBook 850 will also have a dedicated NumPad. Otherwise, all sizes will have dedicated mouse keys and TrackPoint that are staples on business notebooks.
We'll update this page as we receive more details on weight, sizes, and SKUs for the individual models. The entire series will be made available later this month starting at $949 for the EliteBook 840 G3.
