HP may be working on yet another tablet
HP may be down but not out, as the American multinational IT corporation recently hinted at a possible upcoming tablet.
According to eweekeurope.co.uk, VP of HP’s PSG commercial channel Andrew Bodson claimed that HP is still looking into reentering the tablet market, maybe even releasing a Windows 8 tablet when appropriate.
“We will still have tablet solutions,” said Bodson. “We are evaluating Windows 8, but it is a few months away.” Separate sources from TechEye.net say that VP of HP Ann Livermore recently made a similar comment on HP’s continuing interest in the tablet market.
The move is definitely a possibility as Windows 8 will be a much more stable platform compared to webOS in terms of support and potential market share. Still, the idea of an HP tablet may leave a sour taste in consumers due to the explicit and almost sudden failure of the TouchPad. After the hefty $1.2 billion investment in Palm Inc. and more, HP may have left itself a scar in the tablet world.
