It's a strong and reliable office computer which is destined to spend most of its lifetime on the working desk. Although it lacks the finish of EliteBook series' models, its performance places it into the same category.

Archive.org versionHP's ProBook 6540b (WH431PA) is a business notebook through and through. HP's ProBook 6540b is a well-priced business notebook with plenty of features. Its performance and battery life are more than adequate and the management software that comes with it is very easy to set up and use. The only problem with our review unit was its touchpad buttons, which stuck when we pressed them.

HP: Founded in 1939, the US company is a major server and printer manufacturer and one of the leading IT companies in the world. Until 2015, the company was called Hewlett-Packard Company. After a split, the computer division was renamed HP Inc.
In 2023, HP had an approximate market share of 22% of global PC sales, making it number 2 after Lenovo.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4550: The HD 4550 is a faster clocked HD 4530 and therefore entry level graphics card. It was substituted by the HD 5430 with the same clock rates.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Onboard graphics card that is built in the new Arrandale CPUs (Core i3 / i5 / i7 Dual Cores). Depending on the model and Turbo Boost, the GMA HD is clocked between 166 and 766 MHz.

Intel Core i5:
430M:
The Core i5-430M is a middle class dual core CPU that features only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-640M) and clocks between 2.26-2.53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Furthermore, VT-d, trusted Execution and AES features are missing in the 430M. Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics with 500-733 MHz) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
520M:
The Core i5-520M has only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-640M) and clocks between 2.4-2.93 GHz (Turbo Mode). Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (GMA HD 3150) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
