Reviews for the HP Pavilion dm1-1010ef
Source: PC Advisor
The HP Pavilion dm1 outperforms any other netbook we've reviewed. It is slim, stylish, and easy to carry around - given its 12in form factor. It does have a clunky touchpad, though - so try it out before buying. We recommend the Pavilion dm1 to anyone who wants a netbook - only with greater performance levels. It offers good battery life and is a good pick for people interested in a thin, ultraportable laptop - without spending big bucks.

The Pavilion range is usually associated with notebooks. In spite of this and the dm1-1010ef’s configuration, we’ve decided to put it in our netbook product survey. The HP Pavilion dm1 is built with the same chassis as the Compaq Mini 311c netbook. However it gives better performance, which makes it more responsive without losing out on battery life. The screen is still very average though and some of the choices in terms of build are rather doubtful (too much gloss and poor touchpad).

CommentIntel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Onboard (shared Memory) GPU built in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset (Montevina). Because of two more shaders and a higher core clock, much faster than the old GMA X3100. Still not advisable for gamers (DirectX 10 games not playable or only with very low settings). The integrated video processor is able to help decode HD videos (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) , e.g., for a fluent Blu-Ray playback with slow CPUs.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
Intel Celeron Dual-Core: The Intel Celeron Dual-Core familiy consists out of dual core CPUs for cheap laptops. Compared to the Celeron M single core family the biggest advantage (in addition to the second core) is the Enhanced Speedstep function, which enables the notebook to downclock the CPU in Idle mode. Therefore, the current consumption can be much lower. Compared to the Core (2) Duo or Pentium Dual-Core processors, the Celeron Cual-Core features much less L2 Cache which leads to a lower performance per clock.
SU2300: Entry level dual core CPU for small laptops. Offers only a low level performance due to the low clock speed and because of the Celeron brand some power saving features are disabled.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
This screen diagoal is quite large for tablets but small for subnotebooks. Some convertibles are also represented with that size.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
This weight is typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal.

80%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
