Andy Rubin's phone brand is going to unveil "something big" on May 30th, most likely during his appearance at the Redcode Code Conference, an event scheduled to kick off on the same day.

Android's cofounder Andy Rubin has left Google behind back in late 2014, starting a tech incubator for hardware startups known as Playground Global. Now, he is focusing on Essential Products, his company that would soon unveil its first smartphone.

The Essential handset has been around in the rumor mill for a while since we already have a model name for it - FIH-PM1 and quite a few details that surfaced in an unofficial benchmark. Now, Andy Rubin confirms that we should soon get some official details, or maybe a full unveil. Earlier this week, Essential's new Twitter account posted the following message: "Hi, welcome to our Twitter page. We're here to let you know something big is coming May 30th! Stay tuned..."

In the meantime, a photo that shows the shape of the phone has been revealed on the same Twitter account as well, revealing three buttons on the right side and something that appears like an additional module on the top left side. Increasing the Gamma/Brightness values of the image reveals a few hidden details of that module, which appears to be a webcam or something like that (maybe even a VR camera attachment). The handset also appears to have a few buttons at the bottom, or maybe an area where a brand or model name seems to be present. Could also be an oversized speaker grill.

All the above should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but we should get some solid details next week, so stay tuned.
