The US tablet manufacturer Ematic has just launched its latest slate PC that is apparently ideal for children’s “education and entertainment”. Running on an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, the new FunTab is now available to customers via Walmart for RRP $119.99.
Ematic claims the tablet offers durable/rubberized design and is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch display of 800-by-480 pixels native resolution. Furthermore, it is powered by an unspecified single-core central processing unit clocked at 1.2GHz and a Mali-400 GPU.
The FunTab features 512MB of RAM, a microSD card reader slot (up to 32GB of storage), built-in front and back cameras, 5 hours of battery life and a 3-axis gyroscope.
According to a company press release, the mobile device is a result of a partnership between Ematic and Zoodles – an app for kids (Zoodles.com also provides parents with access to their child’s activities). It comes pre-loaded with various games, apps (like Art Studio, Video Mail etc.) and parental controls, so that kids have a “safe online experience”.
Ematic new FunTab is reportedly available in blue/green and pink/purple.
