After the sheer delight of the XPS 13 and the XPS 15, the XPS 12 is a real misstep from Dell. There's no doubting the quality of its gorgeous screen, but its shortcomings and design nuances are major detractions that are hard to ignore. The non-adjustable display angle when using the Premier Keyboard is at best awkward and at worst unusable, and the hingeless design has no advantage over something more traditional.

Dell almost aced the XPS 12 (2015). Its hybrid design was always going to be something of a niche, but within that space its excellent composition and build quality, along with class-leading screen, keyboard and trackpad, make for a technically impressive specimen.

Ultimately, the XPS 12 is a solid device with good performance. For common, everyday tasks -- which is how most people would use this type of machine -- it's great. We rarely felt any lag with its 8GB of RAM configuration. High-def video, light-duty gaming, and chugging through Office documents was no problem, and it functioned well both in tablet mode and while docked as a laptop.

On paper, the Dell XPS 12 sounds like the ultimate 2-in-1 laptop. It has a thin tablet section designed with a beautiful display for watching TV and movies. When you're ready to get down with some serious work, the Premier Base offers one of the best typing experiences I've ever had.

I really like the XPS 12's sturdy carbon fiber body and glowing 12.5-inch screen, although I'd stay away from the 4K model for fear of getting even less battery life than the full-HD model. The dual USB Type-C ports make it simple to connect the XPS 12 to peripherals while also helping reduce the number of wires you need to lug around.

Model: The Dell XPS 12-9250 is a 2-in-1 laptop. Its detachable display can be used as a Windows tablet. The basic package of Dell XP 12-9250 consists of a keyboard dock and a 12,5 inch display with 1080p resolution. While there's also a 4k version out there, it will cost more and its power consumption will also be higher due to the higher resolution. The keyboard dock is interesting, because it is more of a cradle than it is a dock and you can fold it like a laptop together with the display. There are magnets that will generally hold the screen in place. The keyboard does not have full size keys, but they appear bigger than they are since the keyboard is so thin.
Unfortunately, you cannot adapt the angle between keyboard dock and display. The connectivity includes two USB-C ports, a Thunderbolt-3 port, and other common laptop ports like the headphone jack and a normal USB port. Additionally, there is 5 MP front camera and a 8 MP rear camera. The Dell XPS 12-9250 is also equipped with an Intel Core M5 processor, which is a lot faster than most tablet processors you will find in lower-cost Windows tablets.

12.50":
This screen diagoal is quite large for tablets but small for subnotebooks. Some convertibles are also represented with that size.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.1.3 kg:
This weight is typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal.
