It’s easy to find a gaming laptop that maxes out performance and promises gaming domination, but finding one that delivers for less than two grand is more of a challenge. The CyberPower FangBook X7-200 gaming laptop delivers strong performance and a healthy feature set for less than two grand.

While there are a couple things I'd love to change about the CyberPower FangBook X7-200—like the verging-on-tacky design or the short battery life—it still delivers great frame rates, fast performance, and a healthy array of features, all for less than $2000. Thus, it's no surprise that the CyberPower FangBook X7-200 is replacing the MSI GX60 1AC-021US as our Editors' Choice for entry-level gaming laptops.

Bottom line, this MSI chassis is still an excellent one for gaming. iBuyPower and CyberPowerPC are basically competitive with each other and the least expensive options on the market, so it's going to be a matter of styling and customization options that will sway you one way or the other. Now if they could just customize the keyboard, we'd have something truly noteworthy to discuss.

The CyberPower FangBook X7-200 is an excellent choice for gamers who can't live with slow frame rates and don't have the money to invest in a high-end laptop. Granted, at $1,549 this system isn't exactly cheap, but it's certainly more affordable than the likes of the Origin EON17-SLX and Alienware M17x R4.

The Fangbook is just an all-around great system. Of course, you could configure it with better specs, but the Intel Core i7-3630QM processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX GPU, 16GB of RAM, and speedy SSD do pretty well together. (It’s worth noting that this is merely the base configuration for the X7-200 model.)

The operating system is Windows 8. Hit the power button and the OS is ready to rumble in approx. 24 seconds. Natty S-bar functionality at the top of the display is customizable, so users can launch chosen programs or access Function Keys in double-quick time. All in all a capable machine, neck and neck with Dell Alienware R17x, which for the similar configuration costs an extra $700.

CyberPowerPC delivers a powerful gaming behemoth without saddling it with an equally monstrous price. For $1,799, gamers get a powerful Intel Core i7 CPU, discrete Nvidia graphics, and a speedy SSD to augment lots of hard drive space. We appreciate the price, especially since a similarly configured M17x would set shoppers back $2,499.

Cyberpower: CyberPower, Inc. is (as they assert theirselves) one of the nation-wide leading computer system manufacturers. As published in the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2003, they were the fastest growing private company in Los Angeles.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX:
GK104 Kepler-based graphics card and successor to the Fermi-based GeForce GTX 675M.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M: High-End graphics card of the GeForce GTX 600M series, based on the 28nm Kepler architecture (GK104) that is manufactured in 28nm.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
3630QM: An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.

3.9 kg:
A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.

75%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
