How We Test
We decided to use the first mission from the single-player campaign (submarine scene) as our benchmark sequence. This scene may not be as demanding as the outdoor battles in later missions but it does give us a good idea about the performance. The recording starts as soon as the protagonist looks up at his colleague. After a short briefing, we ran the character down a red-lit corridor. The recording ended each time at the broken pipe.
Analysis of the Benchmarks
Crysis 2 always looks good regardless of what settings we pick. To run the game fluidly with high details at a modest resolution (1024x768 pixels or less), the user will need a middle-class GPU such as the Radeon HD 6650M or the GeForce GT 540M.
Very high details and a resolution of 1366x768 pixels requires at least a Radeon HD 6770M or a GeForce GeForce GT 555M.
The Extreme setting with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels can only be run halfway well on high-end graphic cards such as the Radeon HD 6990M or the GeForce GTX 580M.
Gamers who want the absolute best (Ultra-Preset + DirectX-11 + High-Res-Textures), need a dual-GPU system with two HD 6990Ms or two GTX 580Ms or a high-end desktop graphics card.
