Coolpad's wide-screen smartphone launches in China for the equivalent of $150

Following an announcement in October, Coolpad has now begun selling its wide-screen smartphone, the Cool X Wide, after a slight delay. The Android phone is the manufacturer's take on the Huawei Pura X View, but with entry-level specs and a more affordable price tag.
The Coolpad Cool X Wide has a starting price of CNY 999 (~$150/€134) for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storag
When compared to the Huawei Pura X View that has a starting price of CNY 5,999 (~$899/€806), it is clear Coolpad's phone is a budget version. Of course it goes without saying that the lower-priced phone comes with lower-end specifications.
The Coolpad Cool X Wide has a 6.38-inch display with a 720 × 1158 resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a 90Hz refresh rate. There's a MediaTek Helio G99 processor powering it, and it is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The phone has a single 50MP camera on the rear despite the large camera visor, while the front camera is an 8MP sensor.
The Cool X Wide packs a 4,600mAh battery with support for 18W wired charging. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, and an infrared blaster. Coolpad has released the Cool X Wide in Glazed White, Rock Black, and Crimson colors in China, but has provided no details about the phone's availability outside China.
In addition to Coolpad, another manufacturer that has showcased a wide-screen smartphone is Doogee. Called the Doogee Note60 W, it was also unveiled in October, but its full specifications, price, and availability remain unknown.
