Citizen’s latest Eco-Drive watch stars Mickey Mouse playing football

Timex has Snoopy, and Citizen has Mickey Mouse. The Japanese watchmaker has built a growing collection of Disney-themed timepieces, bringing the iconic cartoon character to a range of watches powered by its Eco-Drive technology. The company's latest Disney collaboration takes things to the gridiron with the Touchdown Mickey AW1739-02W, a special-edition Eco-Drive watch featuring Mickey Mouse playing football.
The new Touchdown Mickey features an olive green dial with retro-inspired artwork by Disney artists John and Shelley Loter. Mickey takes center stage, sprinting downfield with a football tucked under his arm, wearing a red helmet and matching pants. Traditional hour markers have been swapped for oversized Xs and Os, along with curved arrows mimicking the play diagrams coaches sketch out before a game. Meanwhile, the outer ring features markings representing the 50-yard lines for each team.
The Xs, Os, arrows, and hands glow bright blue in the dark, making the dial’s playbook-inspired graphics even more prominent when the lights go out, while a date window at 3 o’clock adds everyday utility without taking too much attention away from Mickey.
The dial is encased in a 44.3mm stainless steel case with black ion plating, paired with a matching black leather strap and a domed mineral crystal. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, so the watch is suitable for swimming and other water activities.
Powering the watch is Citizen's light-powered J810 Eco-Drive movement, which converts natural and artificial light into power and eliminates the need for routine battery changes. It offers a three-hand display and date function, keeping things straightforward while letting the dial do most of the talking.
