In conclusion, you get a 17-inch gaming machine that is surprisingly portable for its monstrous hardware, which shows amazing gaming performance without a big toll on noise levels. It also provides good comfort thanks to the gamer-centric keyboard. The super-powerful CPU and the high-quality display make G17 suitable not just for gaming but also for content creating and other heavy tasks. But could you resist the temptation of not playing all day long?

An ideal setup for the target audience, but tailoring for a particular use-case does introduce limitations elsewhere. Those wanting a laptop that doubles for creativity may lament the option of a higher-resolution display with greater colour coverage, the absence of a webcam or biometric security is another potential downside, and as with most Asus gaming laptops, there's some bloatware to contend with.

While the display is confusing there is no denying that the ASUS ROG Strix G17 G713QR is a great gaming notebook and if you’re really itching to get your hands on next-gen graphics, we’re comfortable recommending this notebook as an avenue to reach that.

The 2021 ASUS ROG Strix G17 drops some of the fancy materials and features available with the higher-tier Scar 17 lineup, but doesn't compromise on the performance, screen, IO, or inputs, and sells for significantly less. Thus, I'd expect this to be on many of your maps, as one of the better-value A-brand performance 17-inch laptops in the first part of 2021. It's not without its quirks, though, so make sure you understand them before getting one of these.

Another day has passed, and another RTX 3070 machine has gone through our office. This time, it was the most potent of them all – the 130W version. As a matter of fact, it might be the most powerful mobile GPU, before the RTX 3080 arrives. We saw a similar, and slightly better performance than the RTX 2080 Super, but at 20W lower TGP. Interestingly, the latter is still better when it comes to the Heaven 4 and 3DMark Fire Strike benchmarks. Also, we noticed that on lower details, the RTX 2080 Super paired with a Core i9-10980HK managed to pull ahead. This means only one thing – the mobile Ryzen 5000 chips are not yet ready to be crowned gaming kings.

By now, the headline itself must have been a telltale sign that I really liked the laptop. The only thing that stands between you and getting yourself this beast is the budget. If you are someone who finally wants to shift to the more premium-end laptops, you can go for this one all blindfolded. It is just that good and so hard NOT to recommend. The gaming performance is off-the-charts good, the display is phenomenal, the RGB is cherry on top and so much more. All the things going on with this laptop make it a value-for-money gaming laptop that I myself couldn’t get enough of. Yes, it does have the tendency to get warm around the keyboard but, nothing that is too alarming to stay away from. Moreover, the keyboard, trackpad, ports selection, pretty much everything just makes the laptop all the more worth every bang for your hard-earned buck. Now, if you are someone who does not game much and just wants to work for the most part and at the most edit a couple videos, I wouldn’t particularly say that the Asus ROG Strix G17 is for you.

What do you need from a gaming laptop? Surely, the number one thing is performance. This essential feature is an absolute must, and the ROG Strix G17 G713R definitely provides it. The latest and greatest from AMD’s CPU roster helps a lot, as it offers you a computational performance to brag about. And ASUS’ usage of liquid metal helps you extract every single drop of what the processor has to offer. Well, the GPU tends to get a bit warm, but you have to keep in mind that there is still a lot of potential in the fans. And thankfully, even without maxing them out, you are able to maintain the full 140W of the RTX 3060. ASUS ROG Strix G17 G713R (2022)’s 17-inch IPS panel (BOE NE173FHM-NZ6 (BOE0A00)) has a Full HD resolution, good contrast ratio, and comfortable viewing angles. Additionally, it covers 96% of the sRGB gamut and surprisingly has an accurate color representation with our Gaming and Web design profile. It doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment, which is good for long periods. Now – the 360Hz panel actually has a super-fast pixel response time, which is great for gaming.
