Get your browsers and refresh buttons ready; Apple will officially begin iPad 2 preorders with free shipping through its online Apple Store tomorrow March 11th at 1AM pacific standard time.

If brick-and-mortar shopping is preferred, customers can begin purchasing and getting hands-on experience with Apple’s latest tablet at 5PM the same day. Besides the Apple Store, other retail chains will also be carrying the new iPad, including AT&T, Verizon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart.

Last week, Apple announced the iPad 2 at an event in San Francisco and quickly slashed prices on all first gen iPad models by at least $100 in an attempt to clear stock. Any shortages of the new iPad is not expected to last long as Apple will reportedly ship around 40 million units by the end of this year.

While we wait for the official preorders, catch up on our preview of the iPad 2 here.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
