Airborne Model Y accident video shows passengers surviving multiple rollovers as Tesla earns its highest safety ratings

The 2024 Tesla Model Y has been rated a Top Safety Pick+ in the vehicle safety ranking system of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

In fact, IIHS placed Tesla ahead of the perennial safety favorite Volvo, as its XC90 gave more way during the new side impact crash test.

The independent Euro NCAP crash testing also rates the Tesla Model Y as the best in its small SUV class when it comes to passenger safety, with a score of 97%.

A number of accidents with Tesla's SUV show that it is indeed one of the best vehicles when it comes to passenger survival.

For instance, the case with the deranged Model Y driver who threw his family off a cliff, yet the smashed car kept all the people in it alive. Another example of a double-impact crash with a rig ended with the survivor explaining how he was "told that if the car had a normal front engine it would have likely crushed me."

According to the NHTSA crash testing system, Teslas offer "a strong, rigid passenger compartment, fortified battery pack, and overall low center of gravity."

Another vivid evidence of how safe the Model Y is now comes from China. This time, the horrific accident happened on a busy city road and was recorded by vehicle cameras as it happened, while its immediate aftermath was shown by people who happened to pass by.

First, the Model Y is seen getting airborne and flipping over multiple times at a relatively high speed. It is not immediately clear what caused the accident, but it was suggested that the driver was trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian and lost control of the car.

When the Model Y landed on its wheels, it was smashed beyond recognition, with the windshield broken and all airbags deployed.

Needless to say, the driver and three passengers inside went through a shock, yet they remained relatively unscathed, while the front passenger even went on their phone to get in touch with relatives or first responders.
