Ainol launches new budget 8-inch Quad-Core tablets
Chinese electronics manufacturer Ainol has added two new tablets to its Novo series. The Novo 8 Discovery and Novo 8 Dream feature Quad-Core processors and come with a pre-installed Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Reportedly, the Dream model is available in 6 colour options, whereas the Discovery offers an aluminium body. Both slate PCs are priced at about 190 US Dollars.
According to the company, the two tablets are equipped with an 8-inch capacitive IPS (improved viewing angles) multi-touch display of 1024-by-768 pixels native resolution. Apparently, the Novo 8 Discovery sports an AllWinner A31 chip (four ARM Cortex-A7 cores running at 1GHz) and an octa-core PowerVR SGX544MP2 graphics card, while the Novo 8 Dream is powered by an Actions ATM7029 CPU (four ARM Cortex-A5) and a Mali-400 GPU.
Furthermore, Ainol’s new portable devices feature 1GB (Dream) or 2GB (Discovery) of internal DDR3 RAM, 16GB of storage, which is expandable via the built-in microSD card reader slot, and two integrated cameras – a front-facing VGA web cam and a 2MP shooter on the back of each tablet. Connectivity specs presumably include Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth (Discovery only) radios, a microUSB port and an HDMI output.
The 10mm thick slates weigh approximately 430grams and offer 5000mAh (Discovery) and 6000mAh (Dream) batteries.
