New TravelMate from Acer comes with multiple security features and should be available in mid-July

Acer has been busy churning out new notebooks this month, and after announcing their new Aspire Ethos laptops, the company is at it again. The newest member of the Acer family is a new TravelMate laptop that was announced in London today.

According to the company’s press release (found below) the new TravelMate 5760 is “a professional notebook that stands out from the crowd”. Powered by a Sandy Bridge Intel processor, the 5760 also comes with an NVIDIA GPU with Optimus drivers. The laptop’s 15.6” LED display features a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the notebook comes with up to 750GB of storage and up to 8GB of RAM.

Acer is marketing the new 5760 for low-end professional markets, and as such the company has decided to include some appealing security options. The laptop comes with Acer’s ProShield Security that features pre-boot authentication, an ability to create a personal secure drive, and a File Shredder utility that permanently removes data beyond recovery. The new TravelMate also comes with Intel Anti-Theft technology and Absolute Data Protection that lets users delete files, and freeze or lock the notebook from a remote location.

The newest TravelMate from Acer definitely features some nice security options, yet still manages to be competitively priced. With a recommended retail price of £379 ($605), the TravelMate 5760 could be a success when it becomes available in mid-July.
