94% AMAZING DEAL

Pros: powerful, well balanced, extremely well-priced; Cons: heats up rather quickly under certain conditions (very understandably); Its an incredible powerhouse, this laptop packs a punch and puts a smaller dent in your wallet than you might expect. There is a bit of bloatware bundled with the laptop but with the system's specs it hardly makes a difference in most everyday and in all but the most strenuous gaming applications.

For the following disadvantages...1) Heat: There is a lot of heat generated, u can feel the same when you use the keypad, and the touch pad.. 2) I was unable to configure the wireless internet with Wanadoo, somehow, it says unable to configure, after trying all the combinations, giving me a feeling that the wireless card is not working.. 3) This may be the disadv of Dual Processer: Whenever a high memory usage task is goingon, the task manager shows only one processer takign the load, while the other is silent, giving the feeling that, it may not be a true dual processer. 4) Unable to close unwanted icons on the system tray.

For those of you with the X1400's it appears that the motherboard swap MAY be possible, I was able to remove the rear cover today at work (but I didn't have my camera with me) and it looks just like the X1400's internals from the photos that I saw. I ran 3DMark06 with a full test, but I don't feel the result were correct. My score was around 1300, but there had to have been something wrong. I'll run a full test later and post them. As far as the heat goes, Sure it gets warm; nothing painful -- feels nice on the wrists and hands if you're in a cold room. You can't hear the fan at all; there is only a slight push of warm air out the right side, it actually kind of worries me. I think my disc drive is excessively loud, but I'm not sure. It doesn't say that it's a lightscribe drive, yet I have a lightscribe service preinstalled? hmm.. Odd. This is a great bargin and I'd recommend it to others.

cons - the wifi and bluetooth buttons on the front are oddly loose but work - the little cover on the card reader is so freaking anoying. you pulll it out and it hangs by a little rubber end, so ill prolly just rip it out - even when not playing the right side gets pretty hot. - the touchpad acts up on its own and rightclicks when it freaking wants to. im gonna have to see that (anyine else have this problem?) it also oddly heat up as the cpud and northbridge are right underneath - the keyboard flexes a hell of a lot. but heard many pple say this - THIS THING GETS HOOOT!!!! i wouldnt recommend using it on your lap for too long - acer programs - comes with 2 partitions in......FAT32 !!!!! - blowhole on the right side makes your hand sweat when using a mouse - sofar havent been able to configure the media keys for winamp.

Acer Duo Core Notebook
Source: Gadgetspeak English Archive.org version
Strange no one wants a notebook reviewed in January but there is a glut in March! Here I am looking at Intel Centrino Duo processor in an Acer Aspire 5672 notebook. The notebook is 35x27x4cm and weights around 3kilos. I would probably say this was a desktop replacement as it most likely be too large for most to carry around regularly. It has a 15.4inch screen and the default resolution is 1280x800, there is a ATA Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics chip, the unit can support dual displays and there are both analogue and digital outputs. The screen surround is 25.5x35.5cm with the actual screen dimensions of 21x33cm.

Comment

ATI Mobility Radeon X1400: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 is part of the lower middle class. The performance can be compared with an elder X600, but technically it is a X1300, which is scarcely 100 Mhz higher clocked.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Core Duo: Double Core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption. The 2 MB L2 Cache are used together by the double. The maximum capacity of 31 watts is only 4 watts more than with the Pentium M (predecessor). Both cores are lowered automatically and independently of each other by speed steps down to 1 GHz. In addition it now supports also SSE3 instructions. At least it is just as fast as a equivalent Pentium M. With applications, which were designed for multi-processors, the performance can be nearly twice as fast as with the Pentium M (e.g. CineBench around 86% fast)

15.40":

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

3 kg:

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.

Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.

77.88%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
