AMD plans Fusion APU-specific apps download store

Teaser
AMD aiming at non-commercial app delivery method for Fusion users

Not long ago we had mentioned what Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has up its sleeve next- the ‘Fusion’ APU platform. This CES, AMD unveiled the CPU and GPU combining platform amidst a lot of fanfare.

As of now, very few applications have been written which are oriented towards this GPGPU (general-purpose processing on the graphics processing unit) platform, but there are more coming up in the near future. AMD intends to make the job of its Fusion APU owners/users easier by creating a platform that notifies users of such applications or lets them download them. What AMD officials have to say on this is that the company is aiming at making a download or notification resource and not a commercial app store.

If successful, this store would be the first of its kind and we expect it to be popular amongst enthusiasts too if it proves to be actually beneficial and advantageous over other conventional software delivery methods.
