Released in 2016, Pico Park: Classic Edition, a free game on Steam, has received an update nine years after the initial launch. The title now has updated visuals, which match the other entries of the series. Now, while it launched as a freebie and currently costs $0, it will soon transition to a paid model.
To be specific, with an announcement on September 13, 2025, the developers noted that the game will remain "free for about a week." For those interested in adding it to their Steam library while it remains free, Pico Park: Classic Edition is categorized as an action-puzzle title with local and online multiplayer modes.
There's support for online play for 2 to 10 players, and this currently free game puts players against 22 stages. Each of them has physics-based puzzles and comes with a unique set of mechanics, including time-limited challenges. Some also alternate the player movements, which adds a layer of difficulty to the level.
There are different gameplay modes as well. One of them is called Endless Mode, putting the players against a different set of cooperative challenges in the same session, including obstacle dodging, puzzle building, and plane flying. While the controls are said to be simple, the puzzles in this currently free game are challenging, requiring strategic cooperative play.
For local play, Pico Park: Classic Edition has "Xbox Extended Feature Support," allowing players to connect more than five Xbox controllers at once (Xbox Elite Series 2 Core curr. $153 on Amazon). The developers further highlight the smartphone app called TecoGamePad for the game, which converts the phone into a gamepad.
Pico Park: Classic Edition also comes with the Steam Deck Verified compatibility tag, and it has a 72% positive rating with around 1,550 reviews. While all that sounds great for a free game, some players noted that the gameplay can be frustrating due to its heavy emphasis on player coordination and timing. The sound design has also received a fair share of criticism, with some noting it to be unnecessarily loud. Check out the video below to learn more.
