Xiaomi has introduced the Wireless Mouse 3 Comfort Edition, a more ergonomic take on its well-received Wireless Mouse 3 that arrived back in May. The new version keeps the same hardware, but opts for a wide, sculpted body with a contoured thumb rest for a more comfortable grip.
This is a fairly lightweight clicker, measuring 11.89cm tall and 7.55cm wide and tipping the scale at 65g. Xiaomi says the new “meticulously sculpted” asymmetrical design is optimized for various hand shapes and should provide more substantial support for the user’s palm and fingers compared to its symmetrical sibling. The PixArt 1200DPI optical sensor is nothing to right home about, but then again, this is an entry-level offering aimed at office use, and the word gaming doesn’t appear once in Xiaomi’s sales pitch.
The dual color-matched side buttons on the right side look nice, but they don’t appear to be programmable—they’re strictly for forward and backward navigation. Xiaomi teamed up with TTC to develop keys, and we’re told they offer softer, quieter clicks.
The Wireless Mouse 3 Comfort Edition also has a new, wider, silicone-coated scroll wheel with precise tactile feedback and can be paired with up to three devices— one 2.4GHz wireless connection and two Bluetooth channels. There’s no USB-C charging; power comes from a single AA battery, with Xiaomi promising months of use on a single cell.
Xiaomi offers the Comfort Edition in four shades: Black, Pink, Blue, and White, and it’s available for purchase in China for CNY 109 (~$15). There’s no word on global release yet, but since the company launched the standard version in Europe and other Asian markets, there’s at least a possibility.
