Tesla is rolling out its next Full Self-Driving (Supervised) 14.1 version folded into its latest 2025.32.8.5 software update that early access testers and select customers should be receiving shortly.
Unfortunately, FSD 14 is only meant for newer Teslas with a HW4 set of cameras and computer, as Tesla is having trouble shoehorning even its previous FSD 13 version into the older Hardware 3.0 vehicles.
Still, Tesla FSD 14 is a huge leap in autonomous driving behavior with 6x the parameter count of FSD 13, as per Elon Musk. In practice, besides an increase in "smoothness" and the new Sloth driving mode that takes it safer than Chill when it comes to speed and lane changes, the FSD 14.1 update includes parking selection at the end of the trip as a highlight, with Elon Musk's promised "sentient" feel apparently left for the next FSD 14.2 iteration.
All new Tesla FSD 14 features for HW4 vehicles
- Parking options selection upon arrival: Parking Lot, Street, Driveway, in a Parking Garage, or at the Curbside.
- Handling to pull over or yield for emergency vehicles (e.g. police cars, fire trucks, ambulances).
- Navigation and routing into the vision-based neural network for real-time handling of blocked roads and detours.
- Additional Speed Profile to further customize driving style preference.
- Improved handling for static and dynamic gates.
- Improved offsetting for road debris (e.g. tires, tree branches, boxes).
- Improve handling of several scenarios including: unprotected turns, lane changes, vehicle cut-ins, and school buses.
- Improved FSD's ability to manage system faults and recover smoothly from degraded operation for enhanced reliability.
- Alerts for residue build-up on interior windshield that may impact front camera visibility. "If affected, visit Service for cleaning!"
The promised FSD "sentience" is listed as upcoming improvements, together with the autonomous parking spot selection and parking that are now only available as options at the end of a trip.
These are the capabilities that users would be waiting on most, though, while the rest of the new FSD 14.1 features seem like a laundry list of bug fixes and improvements in situations where FSD has had less than ideal reactions.
