Deal | Special edition of Nintendo Switch OLED gets a rare discount for Labor Day
It has been over six years since the release of the Nintendo Switch, and the company isn't expected to announce the successor anytime soon. But if you're still interested in playing the exclusive games of the gaming handheld, now might be a good time to grab the OLED variant.
As a part of the Labor Day sale, Walmart has discounted the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet edition of Nintendo Switch OLED. The gaming handheld is currently down from $459.99 to $399, a rare $60.99 price cut. As it's a special edition, the console features unique illustrations on the joy-con controllers, the back of the device, and the dock.
The other aspects of this special edition Nintendo Switch OLED are the same as those of the regular OLED version. That means the gaming handheld still has the 7-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, a big improvement from the non-OLED and Lite models.
Under the hood, the Switch OLED comes with a custom Nvidia Tegra X1, a nearly 9-year-old chipset. While the hardware is quite dated, the handheld is still receiving new games, with SteamWorld Heist II and Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club being among the recent ones. It will also get a handful of new titles in the coming months.
However, note that the Nintendo Switch isn't a good pick for playing AAA games, mostly because of the hardware. Something like the Lenovo Legion Go (512 GB curr. $599.99 on Best Buy) is a much better option in this case.
