Fresh off the news of the Samsung Series 9 laptop retailing for $1649, Samsung is announcing three new laptop lines. According to a press release by the company, the Series 2, Series 4, and Series 6 laptops feature anti-shock hard drives and pressure-resistant casings to meet needs of businesses.

Starting things off is the budget oriented Series 2 laptop line. Aimed at the lower end of the business spectrum, the Series 2 laptops will come in two variants- a 12.5” model and a 14” model. As far as processors go, the 12.5” model will feature an Intel Celeron processor and the 14” model will be running an Intel Core i3 Processor. The laptops will also come with 2GB of RAM (expandable to 4GB), up to 320GB of storage, integrated Intel GMA HD graphics and a 1366x768 pixel resolution on both screens.

Next in line, the Series 4 takes things up a notch with a wider range of more powerful Intel processors. The product line will come in the same 12.5” and 14” variants; however, both are customizable with Intel Sandy Bridge Core i3/i5/i7 processors. The rest of the specs include up to 500GB of storage, Intel GMA HD (e.g. 3000graphics, up to 6GB of RAM, the same 1366x768 pixel resolution as the Series 2, and a 6 cell battery with up to 7 hours of life.

Last but not least is the highest end line introduced today, the Series 6. The more powerful model does without the 12.5” version and sticks to 14” and 15.6” models. Both editions will be customizable with Core i3 to i7 processors, up to 8GB of RAM, optional 128GB/256GB SSD, an optional 1600x900 pixel resolution display (regular is 1366x768 pixel) and also can include an option for an NVIDIA NVS 4200M. All three of the Series will come with Windows 7 as the operating system.

While the new systems might not be as attractive as the ultra-thin Series 9, they should make up for that in price and durability. The Series 2 and Series 4 are scheduled to be available in April and the Series 6 should come out in May. Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t released any word about pricing for the laptops.
