Reviews for the Samsung R65-T2300 Carrew

60% Mobile computing with this Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled notebook
Source: vnunet.com English
The Samsung R65 notebook uses the Intel Core Duo processor that is now becoming common in notebook computers. It effectively gives the computer two separate brains that can split the tasks that the computer has to perform. Because they're not completely separate - both are contained on one physical chip - the system is known as 'dual-core': the one processor has two 'cores' which do the work. The Intel T2300 processor in the Samsung R65 runs at 1.66GHz and has 1Gb of memory to complement it. The graphics card, an Nvidia GeForce Go 7400, has 256Mb of its own memory as well. Its overall performance in Windows was fairly impressive, comparing well with other notebooks that use the same processor. However, the R65 fell down somewhat when it came to gaming performance.

Comment

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400: The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 the competitor to the ATI Mobility Radeon X1400. Caution there are some versions with reduced momry bus available.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Core Duo: Double Core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption. The 2 MB L2 Cache are used together by the double. The maximum capacity of 31 watts is only 4 watts more than with the Pentium M (predecessor). Both cores are lowered automatically and independently of each other by speed steps down to 1 GHz. In addition it now supports also SSE3 instructions. At least it is just as fast as a equivalent Pentium M. With applications, which were designed for multi-processors, the performance can be nearly twice as fast as with the Pentium M (e.g. CineBench around 86% fast)

15.1": 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. The 15.1 inch display is used for the 4:3 format and therefore nowadays hardly used and replaced by 15.4 and 15.6 inch formats. The 4:3 format does not have explicitely disadvantages, rather it is a question of taste. When TV-watching on the notebook it is decisive, in which format the current programm is offered. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.7 kg: This notebook is lighter than the average of all notebooks. It is too heavy for sub-notebooks. 14 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.

Samsung: The Samsung Group is composed of numerous international businesses, all united under the Samsung brand in South Korea. The meaning of the Korean word Samsung is "tristar" or "three stars". The Samsung brand is one of the most important brands of South Korea. Samsung is an international notebook manufacturer of medium size according market shares and reviews.
