The Samsung R65 notebook uses the Intel Core Duo processor that is now becoming common in notebook computers. It effectively gives the computer two separate brains that can split the tasks that the computer has to perform. Because they're not completely separate - both are contained on one physical chip - the system is known as 'dual-core': the one processor has two 'cores' which do the work. The Intel T2300 processor in the Samsung R65 runs at 1.66GHz and has 1Gb of memory to complement it. The graphics card, an Nvidia GeForce Go 7400, has 256Mb of its own memory as well.

Its overall performance in Windows was fairly impressive, comparing well with other notebooks that use the same processor. However, the R65 fell down somewhat when it came to gaming performance.

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 is a faster clocked Geforce Go 7300, which is a slightly enhanced GeForce Go 6200. The performance is a bit below average. Some current not demanding games can be played fluently with low details. For other games massive restrictions with the game settings must be tolerated. The performance is sufficient for office applications and surfing.

Intel Core Duo: Intel Core Duo (successor of Pentium M), is a double core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption. The 2 MB L2 Cache are used common. The maximum current consumption of 31 Watts is only 4 W more then with Pentium M. Due to the low energy need is Core Duo also suited for subnotebooks. Further now it supports SSE3 orders. The performance can nearly be doubled for applications, which were designed for multiprocessors (compared with Pentium M).
T2500: The strong Core Duo type T2500 is not only suitable for office applications and surfing, but also for games.

15.1": 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. The 15.1 inch display is used for the 4:3 format and therefore is used not so frequently like the 15.4 inch format.
Meanwhile notebook displays with a format 4:3 are strongly replaced by 16:10 formats. The 4:3 format does not have explicitely disadvantages, rather it is a question of taste. When TV-watching on the notebook it is decisive, in which format the current programm is offered.
The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much current and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
>> To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.7 kg: This notebook is lighter than the average of all notebooks. It is too heavy for sub-notebooks. 14 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
Samsung: Samsung is an international notebook manufacturer of medium size according market shares and reviews. Up tp now, Samsung notebooks achieved excellent total ratings of German and English magazines. Also the ratings of price and performance are respectable.
