The Realme 8i is a 4G/LTE-only smartphone; however, it is also the first device to launch with its MediaTek Helio-series chipset. The new SoC upgrades to a 120Hz refresh rate on the phone, thereby bringing this high-end spec to the budget category. Now, this prospect is on its way to Europe, set to launch during an event set for later in October 2021.

The Realme 8i launched as the OEM's first Helio G96-powered smartphone. This new MediaTek SoC is an octa-core chipset made of ARM Cortex-A76s and A55s with a maximum clock of 2.05GHz, as well as a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It also improves on its predecessor the G95 in that it supports FHD+ with refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

This ability is unlocked in the 8i, conferring the spec on its 6.6-inch "Ultra Smooth" display, even if it is IPS-LCD. Therefore, the phone might be an attractive new option for those in need of an affordable new phone. Unfortunately, it has only been available in India thus far.

Now, however, Realme seems poised to address this with the announcement of a new launch for the 8i. The OEM's European division will debut the super-budget phone on October 14, 2021. This event should reveal pricing for the device in its new region. As the 8i starts at INR 13,999 (~US$188) for a 4GB SKU, it is possible it might go for €200 (~$205) or (hopefully) less on release to its new region.

Alternatively, Realme Narzo 30s are available on Amazon for around the same price.
