RIM schedules Playbook event ahead of launch

Teaser
With the Blackberry release quickly approaching, RIM has scheduled an event for the 14th of April

The Blackberry Playbook release date is less than 2 weeks away, and RIM is making sure that we don't forget about the Playbook. With the tablet's release scheduled for April 19th, RIM has scheduled a Blackberry event for the preceding Thursday (April 14th).

According to Slashgear, the event should display a near-final build of Blackberry's much anticipated tablet along with a demo and a possibility of review units being made available. The tablet features a 7-inch display with a native resolution of 1024x700 pixels, a dual-core Cortex A9 1GHz processor, and 1GB of RAM. It will be the first tablet to run RIM's very own Blackberry Tablet OS, and hopefully the event should show us some new features.

The Playbook made headlines recently due its sub $500 price tag and an ability to run Android apps. Unfortunately, as of now, nobody has managed to get their hands on the Playbook's Android simulator. However, we're hoping that changes next Thursday and we look forward to seeing a finished product.
