New leak confirms Xe GT3 iGPU for some Alder Lake Mobile processors
Intel has revealed plenty of details about the Alder Lake architecture so far, most recently at its Architecture Day last month. The company has yet to explain what iGPUs its upcoming desktop and laptop processors have though, but a Coreboot update has offered an insight.
As the screenshot below shows, Coreboot now includes references for 'INTEL_ADL_M_GT3', presumably Intel Alder Lake Mobile GT3. Intel considers Tiger Lake iGPUs to be GT2, such as the Iris Xe Graphics G7 with 96 Execution Units (EUs). Hence, GT3 should refer to a next-generation Xe iGPU, and could possibly signal the return of the Iris Pro series, codenamed GT3e.
Not all Alder Lake processors will feature GT3 iGPUs, though. Instead, Intel will also offer Alder Lake laptop processors with GT1 and GT2 iGPUs, with GT1 referring to Ice Lake iGPUs like the UHD Graphics G1 in the Core i5-1035G1. While Coreboot does provide any specifications about GT3 iGPUs, we imagine they will only be available in high-end Alder Lake Mobile SKUs.
Based on a leaked SKU stack slide, GT3 iGPUs may only be available as 96 EU parts. Incidentally, Lenovo has effectively confirmed that Alder Lake processors will be pre-orderable in a month and should start shipping in early November.
