To celebrate the big announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, Auroch Digital, the developers of Boltgun, have announced a brutal new typing game where you smite the emperor's foes with lightning-fast keystrokes.
The spin-off title, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun - Words of Vengeance, is an on-rails shooter that challenges you to type randomized words and phrases that pop up on your screen. As you might have guessed, it's very similar to games like Sega's The Typing of the Dead, requiring you to type out words that appear next to an enemy to take them out.
The game is still set in the world of Boltgun, and you still play Malum Caedo, the protagonist from the first game. There are four difficulty levels to master, and the game can be played for free on Steam.
The spin-off was announced at the ongoing Warhammer Skulls, an annual celebration of video games within the franchise. Besides a new typing game, Auroch Digital announced Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, a direct sequel to 2023's boomer shooter.
Boltgun 2 promises "never-before-seen worlds" and the same nu-Doom-flavored frantic mayhem of the original. This time around, there is a branching campaign, new weapons, new enemy types, and a lot more.
This is also a good time to grab the original Boltgun. The shooter is 50% off on Steam till June 5, 2025. Boltgun has a "Very Positive" rating, with a Metacritic score of 75 and an average use score of 7.7.
