Monster has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Speak Music to incorporate its Melody AI voice-assistant directly into new model variants that will launch later this month.

Monster and Speak Music have partnered to incorporate the latter company's Melody AI voice-assistant directly into Monster's headphones. The existing Monster headphone lines to get the new technology are the Elements line, the ClarityHD line and the iSport Freedom line, which will each add a new model featuring Melody voice control. The Melody platform is powered by natural language processing and artificial intelligence that will improve the user experience as it learns how and individual speaks and selects music.

The Melody AI voice-assistant technology requires users to download a free Melody companion app available for both iOS and Android. The app integrates a user’s music services and helps user’s to pair their Melody-equipped Monster headphone over a Bluetooth connection. Currently compatible music services include iHeartRadio, Spotify Premium, iTunes local music, NPR news briefs, with TIDAL support coming soon. Unlike the built-in voice assistants in a user’s smartphone, the Melody voice assistant is specifically targeted at making music selection and voice control playback easy and hands-free.

Whether users will find the technology useful enough to by-pass their smartphone voice assistant remains to be seen. Pricing and regional availability was unavailable at the time of writing, although the headsets are expected to widely available.
