Motorola confirms ICS update on Wi-Fi only Xoom in the US

Motorola Mobility has recently put their Ice Cream Sandwich update over the air for their Xoom Wi-Fi models

Recently Motorola mobility confirmed that the latest Android version the Ice Cream Sandwich will update on their Xoom Wi-Fi tablets. The update will arrive for the users over the air via Wi-Fi to US based owners.

Along with a faster browsing experience, the free update will also let the user type via voice and even included a Data Manger tool for monitoring and controlling the network data usage.

Motorola also believes that their tablet is the first of its kind to receive the upgrade the Ice Cream Sandwich, however the Asus Transformer Prime tablet has already received it a week ago as reported by some bloggers.

The Xoom update is officially named as IML77. They have also posted a list of new features including a new typeface called Roboto.

XDA-Developers and some Bloggers theorized that Asus tablet feels more like an Ice Cream Sandwich reference platform while Xoom feels much like a Honeycomb tablet to the developers.

But it is really great news for the Xoom users to get the new Ice Cream Sandwich update out of the blue.
