Motorola will start taking pre-orders for its eagerly anticipated Motorola Razr phone reboot. One of the hit flip phones in the mid-2000s, the Razr has been reborn with a foldable pOLED display and is among the more affordable models to hit the market so far.

Motorola will be making its first foray into the foldable display mobile market with its reborn Razr flip phone going up for pre-order from January 26 in the US. One of the most popular flip phone designs of the mid-2000s, the Razr redesign retains its classic looks while creating a device that is ready for a more contemporary audience. While the original design had a small 2-inch display in the top half and a laser etched numeric keypad in the bottom half, the reboot features a single flexible 6.2-inch pOLED panel that spans both halves of the device.

"We are excited to share that, in North America, the Motorola Razr will be available for presale on January 26th exclusively at Verizon, Walmart and motorola.com; and in stores starting on February 6th. Dates for other markets will be announced locally,” Motorola said in a statement to Engadget.

The Motorola Razr is retailing for US$1,500 and will reach customer hands from February 6. Although it might have a cutting-edge look, it is unfortunately powered by a modest Snapdragon 710 clocked at 2.2 GHz matched with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Although not the most powerful chip on the market, it should still deliver adequate performance while running a near stock version of Android 9 Pie that it will ship with out of the box.
