Reviews for the Lenovo IdeaPad 320s-14IKB
Simple and affordable. Lenovo has presented the IdeaPad 320S, an affordable entry-level notebook. We have tested one of the lowest configurations available and will report how much (or how little) you can expect from a notebook that costs less than $500.

Lenovo IdeaPad 320s review – We’ve seen all sorts of amazing laptop- tablet hybrids from Lenovo, with touchscreens, pens, virtual keyboards and built-in projectors. This is not one of those. The Ideapad 320S is an unashamedly basic laptop at a refreshingly low price. The case, in silver or white, is mostly plastic but feels sturdy. And although the hinge doesn’t fold all the way around like the Yoga convertibles, it does tilt as far back as you want, down to resting on the desk. Unfortunately, the cheap TN LCD panel means you’ll need exactly the right angle to make it clearly visible.

A package of budget components packed in a decidedly non-budget shell – but the whole can't quite cut it.

Model: The Lenovo IdeaPad 320s-14IKB is a sleek, lightweight laptop that packs a processing punch. Whether a user is working remotely or want to watch on the go, they will never feel weighed down. It is also fairly portable at 1.53 kg and measures 19.3 x 327.4 x 236.5 mm. Featuring a minimalist redesign with beveled edges and premium metal cover, the IdeaPad 320S offers chic versatility that will always suit an individual’s style. It often makes Lenovo laptops some of the prettiest in their class. The bit that really hides the Lenovo IdeaPad 320S’s bargain bloodline is the screen style. It is available in three tone-on-tone colors: Mineral Grey, Snow White, and playful Coral Red. The rest of the laptop is made from plastic. The Intel Core i5 7200U CPU, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, and 256 GB SSD combo makes Windows 10 run better than other laptops with a similar specification. There is no awkward wait for the Start menu to pop up, no obvious address bar lag when there are a few browser windows open. For the basics, the IdeaPad 320S is almost enjoyable to use. The IdeaPad 320S also brings Windows 10 Home, featuring a host of exciting new features. The IdeaPad 320S 14" offers startling graphics power, powered by the Nvidia GeForce 920MX. A dedicated graphics card relies on its own processor, accelerating graphics performance by more than 3 times. A user can play games, edit videos and more with reduced screen tearing and advanced photo and video-editing performance.
This version of the IdeaPad 320S has a 14 inch 16:9 IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. An IPS display leaves the user with good colors, great contrast, decent brightness and decent viewing angles. A user can swivel the screen around by almost 180 degrees, and the user will only experience very minimal contrast shift. The keyboard lacks a backlight and the trackpad is a basic plastic surface and has a slightly loud click too. However, it is expected and still acceptable considering this is a very budget laptop. The laptop also features two Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby Audio, the IdeaPad 320S offers advanced sound optimization for greater detail across a wide range of sounds. A user can watch a movie or video chat with a friend and Dolby Audio automatically enhances dialogue and maximizes the volume of the PC without distortion. The IdeaPad 320S is also very quiet. There is a fan, but it is only audible under strain. The IdeaPad 320S can hang on for eight hours just playing back a movie, which is pretty decent. The IdeaPad 320S does not miss out on any connections either. There is the standard budget complement of a couple of USB ports (one is the faster USB 3), an SD slot and an HDMI port.

Intel HD Graphics 610: Integrated GPU (GT1) with 12 EUs found on some low-end Kaby-Lake CPU models (15 W ULV series). Same performance as the old HD Graphics 510.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

Pentium 4415U: Kaby-Lake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Compared to the Core i3-7100H, the 4415U is clocked slower (2.3 versus 3 GHz), offers less Level 3 cache and a slower GPU. Both a manufactured in the same 14nm process.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
71.25%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
