Notebookcheck recently reported on a new smartphone being developed by HTC, however, the device was codenamed "Breeze" at the time. This new model is now expected to be the upcoming HTC Desire 12.

It appears the new device HTC has been working on will be the HTC Desire 12. The smartphone was previously known under the codename "Breeze."

A low-end MediaTek SoC, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of storage space are expected to be found in the Desire 12. The large 5.5-inch display will provide an 18:9 aspect ratio and there will be a 13 MP rear-facing camera and 5 MP front-facing camera. A 2,730 mAh battery confirms the entry-level aspirations, as does the plastic case the phone will likely come in.

HTC’s phones tend to receive positive reviews, so a lot will be expected from the HTC Desire 12. No details in regard to price or release date have been made available yet. There is fierce competition in the entry-level smartphone market and it seems HTC wants the Desire 12 to stand out from the crowd with its full display and 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Taiwanese corporation has faced many ups and downs since its foundation in 1997, including facing a lengthy patent infringement suit from Apple (2010-12). In 2017, HTC sold part of its smartphone business to Google for $1.1 billion.

The company president claimed the HTC U11 delivered strong sales figures, eclipsing sales for both the HTC One M9 and HTC 10. So no doubt there will be similar expectations for the HTC Desire 12.
