Do you want to spend $1400 USD for a 17-inch laptop with slow Core i5 performance, no AdobeRGB coverage, and no Thunderbolt 3? This overpriced LG Ultra 17 is unique but in all the wrong ways.

The LG Ultra PC 17 is ultimately a mainstream laptop that's living large. While it lacks some fancy features like fingerprint reading, and performance isn’t ideal for heavy-duty media editing, the roomy display is convenient for work and loads of fun for play. You can use it all day off the charger without worrying about battery life, and it even has some replaceable or upgradeable components.

The LG Ultra PC 17 is a solid multimedia laptop that should meet the day to day needs of most business professionals While it will provide the user some decent gaming performance, the laptop is not for a serious content creator looking to produce professional content. Although the display is worthy of those aspirations, the middling to poor performance of its GPU will prevent serious creators from achieving their goals. If you want a large display for handling documents, playing a few games and watching movies when you're not working, the Ultra PC 17 could be a good option for you.

The LG UltraPC 17 isn’t the fastest 17-inch laptop nor is it the longest-lasting, and its display is better than average yet not the best you can buy. But it’s good enough in each of these aspects to make it an attractive laptop for demanding productivity users and moderately demanding creators. It’s also reasonably affordable at $1,600. That’s more than much less competent 17-inch machines like the Asus Vivobook 17X, but it’s less than faster laptops like the Dell XPS 17 and MSI Creator 17P. It slots into an attractive spot in the large laptop field and is well worth consideration.

LG:
LG Electronics Inc. is a subsidiary of LG Group. It is a South Korean company and was founded as Goldstar Co, Ltd, in 1958. The group offers products in the fields of information technology, consumer electronics and mobile communications, and home appliances. LG Electronics is the world's third largest home appliance manufacturer. As a notebook manufacturer, LG only became known to a wider audience in the German-speaking market in 2005. After a few years, LG largely withdrew from the laptop sector. The product range includes OLED, LED/LCD and plasma TVs, home theater systems, Blu-ray players as well as audio and video players.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops based on the desktop GTX 1650 and therefore the Turing architecture (TU117 chip in 12nm FFN) without raytracing and Tensor cores. Available with 896 and 1024 shaders.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU: Mid-range gaming laptop graphics card based on the Ampere GA107 chip.

Intel Comet Lake:
i5-10210U: Comet Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced in 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock between 1.6 and 4.2 GHz (all 4 cores 3.9 GHz max.) with HyperThreading (8 threads). The integrated memory controller supports LPDDR4-2933 and using cTDP up/down the performance can be adjusted by the OEM (10 - 25 Watt possible, 15W default). Compared to the faster i5-10510U, the level 3 cache was reduced from 8 to 6 MB.
i7-10510U: Comet Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced on 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock between 1.8 and 4.9 GHz (all 4 cores 4.3 GHz max.) with HyperThreading (8 threads). The integrated memory controller supports DDR4-2666 and using cTDP up/down the performance can be adjusted by the OEM (10 - 25 Watt possible, 15W default).
Intel Alder Lake-P:
i7-1260P: An upper mid-range Alder Lake family CPU featuring 4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. This 28 W SoC is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops. Core i7-1260P's performance cores are Hyper-Threading-enabled for a total of 16 threads. This 12th Gen CPU runs at 1.5 GHz to 4.7 GHz and supports "Essentials" tier vPro features. Last but not the least, Core i7-1260P has a built-in 96 EU Iris Xe GPU, not unlike certain 11th Gen Tiger Lake-UP3 processors.

17.00: This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

76.63%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
