Supergiant Games, known for their critically acclaimed roguelike action RPG, Hades, has been working on Hades 2 since 2021. The game was launched in Early Access on May 6, 2024, and it seems the development cycle is nearing completion, as the developers accidentally leaked all 49 Steam achievements.
The Steam Achievements for Hades 2 were accidentally leaked and promptly removed on July 29, 2025. On the r/HadesTheGame subreddit, keen fans noticed the update rolled out at 18:59 UTC and was rolled back within two hours after players spotted the change.
Fans speculate Hades 2’s full 1.0 release might be right around the corner, amid the leak showcasing 49 achievements, which consist of Melinoe fulfilling prophecies and other objectives. To put things into perspective, the original Hades exited Early Access in 2020 and launched with 49 achievements, with many unlocked based on players’ existing save data.
The original Hades followed the story of Zagreus making his way out of the underworld to meet his mother, Persephone, where players had to rely on boon-RNG in the roguelike climb out of Hell. The sequel, Hades 2, follows events after the first game, where Melinoe, Zagreus’ younger sister, prepares to plunge into the Underworld, starting from the City of Ephyra, in a bid to free her family and the Underworld from Chronos’ clutches.
Supergiant Games touted Patch 10 as the potential final update before v1.0’s launch. To the surprise of many, the studio rolled out Patch 11 last week, featuring balance tweaks and fixes, indicating there’s still a bit of time before exiting Early Access. Still, the accidental Steam Achievements leak signals a race to v1.0, fueling rumors of a surprise announcement at the upcoming Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase.
Supergiant Games is known for shadow-dropping its releases, akin to Hades 2's Early Access debut on Steam. Furthermore, Hades 2 may debut as a timed console exclusive on the Nintendo Switch 2, ahead of a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X release. The game had an all-time peak of 103,567 concurrent players on May 6, 2024, and a 94.87% user score from 67,049 reviews on Steam
The gaming community is eagerly anticipating Hades 2’s jump out of Early Access, but as always, Supergiant Games remains tight-lipped, as all eyes remain on the studio for the long-awaited v1.0 release date.
