The highlight of the Pavilion m6-1035dx for me was most certainly the battery life of 7 hours and 40 minutes which is simply amazing for a 15.6” screen laptop. The build quality and design of the Pavilion m6-1000 are certainly appealing, it’s quite light at 5.1lbs and only 1-inch thin so it’s very portable for the screen size. The two downsides to the Pavilion m6 are the lackluster keyboard, no option for a screen resolution upgrade and the somewhat annoying glossy finish around the screen. Bottom line, the HP Pavilion m6 is a nice alternative to the Pavilion dv6 if you were hoping for something thinner and lighter and like the design, build and reputation of that laptop.

When I first saw it at one of HP's many laptop preview events, the Pavilion m6 was intriguing, at least on paper. It was a slim 15-inch laptop, with an optical drive and optional discrete graphics that looked like the middle ground between HP's higher-end Envy line and the usual plastic Pavilions. This near-ultrabook packs in processing and graphics power, along with an optical drive, at a reasonable price. The only real knock against the Pavilion m6 is that some of HP's higher-end systems hardly cost more.

In some ways, the HP Pavilion m6t-1000 is one of the better 15-inch multimedia notebooks we've tested. For $949, consumers walk away with a slim and attractive aluminum system with solid graphics performance and long battery life. Unfortunately, HP doesn't offer a full HD display on this notebook, and the stiff touchpad buttons is a turnoff.

Despite its less-than-robust processing power, the HP Pavilion M6-1148CA's good feature set helps make it a well-rounded choice. For the average user who occasionally edits photos or home movies, it's worth checking out. At the same time, however, it's not the best choice in this price range and prospective purchasers should accordingly explore other options before making a final decision.

15.6: 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
