HP Gaming Pavilion 15-dk0009ng
Hewlett Packard’s Pavilion Gaming laptop is perhaps one of the thinnest gaming laptop devices to ever grace the scene. Whenever gaming laptops are concerned, it is never surprising if certain models present themselves as rather bulky and heavy in size due to the additional specifications and design that were being put into their creation. With the uprising demand for both convenience and portability in business-oriented laptop models in this day and age, Hewlett Packard is one of the many company brands to take the first step in introducing gaming laptop models that are not only just as astounding in performance, but also suitable to commute around. At first glance, it is notable that the HP Pavilion Gaming laptop stands out on its own due to its distinctly bold design. This is exemplified through the availability of its color options ranging from Ghost White, Ultra Violet, or the strangely fascinating Acid Green. Whereas other competing brands of premium gaming laptop devices such as Razer and Alienware are among the first to adopt the color scheme of green into their laptop designs, Hewlett Packard’s selection of the Acid Green color is a bold representation to recreate the magic that these other brands seem to possess. What makes the HP Pavilion Gaming laptop model an attractive prospect would be none other than its outstanding specifications. The HP Pavilion Gaming laptop model is armed with up to 8th generation Intel Core processor units that are tailored to keep up with intensive labor from modern game titles. Coupled with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card, the HP Pavilion Gaming laptop model is bound to amaze even the most hardcore of gamers. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1600 Ti graphics card is astounding in its own regard due to its capabilities of performing at a boost clock of 1,770 MHz. The dedicated hardware encoder of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti improves the efficiency significantly by 15 %. The HP Pavilion Gaming laptop also possess a broad RAM space of up to a total of 16 GB on a fast DDR4 memory unit. This memory unit, just like any other on a gaming laptop, is upgradeable by personal choice, and the ample space unlocks significant performance boost for modern games as well as various other demanding applications to operate smoothly with barely a hint of slowness. The HP Gaming Pavilion 15 handles all modern games with ease on its matte 15.6-inch 1080p display thanks to its powerful hardware. The device can even make use of its 144 Hz refresh rate while remaining comparatively quiet too. 16 GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM keeps the system ticking over, as does the 256 GB NVMe SSD.

In comparison to its predecessor, the Pavilion Gaming 15 2019 is a step ahead in almost every direction. First, of course – the gaming experience. It delivered quite better performance, thanks to the GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q. However, how was it able to do so, when the last model was overheating like crazy – at least in the GPU department.

At Rs 124,990, HP Gaming Pavilion 15 feels like an affordable machine in a sea of gaming laptops that are designed for competitive gaming tournaments. This is a solid machine that can run virtual reality experiences, AAA-titles and editing software. But like I said, Pavilion 15 isn’t perfect. It too suffers from a disappointing battery life, like most other gaming laptops. So in case you are planning to buy the HP Gaming Pavilion 15, make sure to keep the power brick handy in your backpack every time you step out of the home.

The HP Pavillion Gaming 15 is slightly bulky for an everyday machine that mostly stays in a bag but is good for working and gaming from home. The design, specifications and performance are good for a starting price of Rs 69,990 (with i5 processor and 60Hz refresh rate) if you can navigate the challenges of a mediocre battery life and a bit of heat.

As I said in the beginning, HP wants to get the user experience just right and after going through the laptop in detail, it seems that this laptop offers what it promises. For a gaming laptop, the performance is top-notch in its category along with a great display and good battery life. It's practical too with an easy-to-live keyboard and trackpad. But what conquers everything, in my opinion, is the stealth-inspired design and rock-solid build quality - something that's not seen in other gaming laptops at this price. The HP Pavilion Gaming 15 laptop feels well put together with an impeccable fit and finish, and for that reason alone, it is a recommendation for gamers on a budget.

Overall, the HP Gaming Pavilion 15-dk0046nr is not to be slept upon simply because it’s a budget system. At $909, the laptop packs some powerful specs including an Intel Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GTX 1660 GPU which means the notebook can play games at good frame rates. And at nearly 6 hours of battery life, it’s got endurance to spare. However, if you’re looking for a bit more graphical oomph, the $1,099 Asus ROG Zephyrus G GA502 which offers more power and a better display. Still, if you’re looking for a surprisingly powerful entry-level system at a great price, the HP Pavilion 15 should be at the top of your list.

In the end, HP has put together a well-balanced, relatively thin laptop for gaming and office or schoolwork without the high price or flashy looks. If you're looking for more gaming-related features, though, there are plenty of gaming laptop options for less than $1,000 out there.

The Pavilion Gaming Laptop nevertheless punches well above its weight in the entry-level range. If you’re looking for a sub-$1,000 gaming laptop, HP’s built one every bit as sturdy and refined as its high-end counterparts—because at the core, they’re the same laptop. Branding is funny sometimes, eh?

HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk0020ns
HP has refreshed its Pavilion gaming range with the latest addition to the list, the HP Pavilion Gaming 15. This laptop positioned itself just below the company’s very own OMEN line-ups. Having said that, it was expected that the Pavilion 15 would offer better value for the price than something like an OMEN 15, but sadly, this laptop only comes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 to GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPUs, while the RTX 20 series has been reserved for OMEN laptops. In terms of performance, the Gaming Pavilion 15 has been equipped with an Intel Core i7-9750H processor along with a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU, which is more power-efficient than the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. With such a combination, this laptop is powerful enough to handle all modern triple-A games, albeit in lower than max configuration, but enough for giving users the punch. The device performs comparatively well in system benchmarks like PCMark, though. With its hexa-core CPU, powerful GPU and dual-channel RAM along with the fast NVMe SSD, it definitely creates a nimble system in combination. This again accounts for an overall improved user experience.
This laptop has obviously been introduced with a redesigned case compared to the ones that HP uses on its other Pavilion laptops. However, it does bear some resemblance to its predecessor with its overall matte, black plastic chassis. The laptop is called Shadow Black by HP, although it has contrasting green areas, including the keyboard. The most striking feature of the built of this device has to be the air outlet at the back. Apart from that, it should be noted that the Pavilion 15 does not have either a maintenance cover nor a removable battery. The entire bottom case has to be removed to access the battery or other internal components. The laptop is overall robust, but the hinges could not prevent the display from teetering while typing, which might be a drawback for some users.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the Pavilion Gaming 15 offers a good selection of ports. It comes with four USB-3.2 ports, including one Type-C Gen-2 USB port that also supports DisplayPort output with an appropriate adapter. In contrast, the remaining three Type-A ports operate on the slightly older Gen-1 standard. There is also an inclusion of one HDMI-2.0 port, a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combination jack, a Gigabit Ethernet port and also a cable lock slot. The ports have been placed on both sides of the laptop for user convenience. The only drawback has to be the exclusion of a Thunderbolt 3 port, as it allows connecting an external GPU, something considered quite standard among modern gaming laptops. Despite having been introduced as a gaming laptop, there is definitely room for improvement, such as Thunderbolt 3 inclusion.
