The Compaq Presario CQ61-420us is a very attractive budget laptops thanks to its very affordable price tag. Those looking for a basic full sized laptop system, it is a tough price to beat. Be aware that the system does sacrifice a number of features and performance compared to slightly more expensive laptops. Still, for some that don't need much it may fit their needs.

An underwhelming laptop, but a decent software suite is included to get you started
The HP Compaq Presario CQ61-402SA is an entry level machine for those after basic performance and portability. Overall, the HP Compaq Presario CQ61-402SA slightly underwhelmed us. It has good usability and a serviceable screen, but performance could be better, as could portability.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
ATI Radeon HD 4200: Onboard graphics adapter (RS880M chipset) with UVD2 (PIP support) and DX 10.1 support (compared to the older HD 3200). Beware, possibly no 2D acelleration in Windows XP (as the HD3200).
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: The graphics core of the Intel GL40 and GS40 chipset features a slower clocked GMA 4500MHD (400 versus 533 MHz). Because of the slower core speed, full Blu-Ray Logo support is not given and the gaming performance is a bit worse.

AMD Athlon II:
M320:
Entry level dual core CPU by AMD which features an integrated memory controller (400MHz DDR2) and is based only partially on the K10 core. The performance should be compareable to a 1.8 Celeron Dual Core. The CPU supports 64 Bit and Virtualization.
Intel Celeron M: It is a Pentium M with halved level 2 Cache and limited on FSB 400. The characteristic of this processor is the speed, which is hardly slower than an equivalent Pentium M. However it can change the speed not dynamically like the Pentium M and therefore needs without load more current.
It is also available as Low Voltage Version with very small current consumption.
900: Single core processor based on the Penryn core but many advanced features are deactivated. Due to the missing Speedstep, the CPU may lead to a lower battery runtime.
15.6: 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.7 kg:
This notebook is lighter than the average of all notebooks. It is too heavy for sub-notebooks. 14 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
2.7 kg:
60%: Such a bad rating is rare. There exist hardly any notebooks, which are rated worse.
