911 Operator is now free to keep on Steam for a limited time, dropping from $14.99 to $0 on Steam. Players have to handle real-life emergency calls and dispatch units across real city maps. Deal ends October 29.

911 Operator is currently available to claim for free on Steam, and once added, it stays in your library permanently. The deal runs until October 29, showing a 100% discount from its usual $14.99 pricing.

911 Operator puts you in charge of handling real-time emergency calls and dispatching the right units - police, firefighters or ambulances - depending on the situation. You not only take decisions quickly, but also guide callers through proper first-aid steps before help arrives. Every call is different, and the wrong pick can make a situation go bad fast.

While the gameplay looks simple on the surface, it involves managing multiple incidents at the same time, resource planning, and keeping track of city-wide coverage. The developers say you can play missions in any major city worldwide, using actual street layouts based on OpenStreetMap data. That should gives it a more grounded feel than most management titles.

The review aggregate on Steam is "Very Positive", both in recent and overall ratings. Players love the realistic approach and tense call scenarios. The game has been around since 2017, but its concept is still pretty unique in the strategy-management genre. At the time of writing, 911 Operator has nearly 3,000 players as per SteamDB's data. You can get it for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

If you’ve never tried it, this is a good time, especially for no cost. There are several DLCs and a sequel called 112 Operator, but the base game on its own is a pretty complete experience and worth grabbing while free. You can check it out here.
