Dell Streak get official Gingerbread update

Teaser
Dell now provides a Gingerbread update for their dying tablet

Although the production of Dell Streak has been stopped but its owners may find something to cheer as they can update their device’s operating system to Gingerbread.

This official Android 2.3.3 ROM was originally released in South Korea and now it is said that it works on the Dell Streak. This version comes with English and Korean language options. It might not be very helpful for the European nations who doesn’t use much English but should not be a problem for the consumers in the US and UK.

The update is made available in Dell’s official website for download and also with flash using the stock region 14 recovery. However, there has been no word from the company whether they will make an effort for OTA roll-out for other regions.

The Flashing procedure requires you to first flash the region 14 recovery and then flash the update file. This means you need to backup all your necessary data before you start the process, but if you don’t know how it works please do not proceed with this way.
