School's calling. Rigid, ready-to-go and enduring is how Dell presents its new Education lineup. The combination of these key specs quite convinced us in the test, and thus Dell's Latitude 11 is also eligible for the classic office environment.

The Dell Latitude for Education is a cheap Windows PC for schools, and it has excellent speakers and a solid keyboard. But it is so slow that getting actual work done on this machine is a chore.

Schools need cheap options to outfit their students with computers, and the Dell Latitude 11 for Education (starting at $379) is a clear attempt to fill that need. It's a full PC that runs Windows 10 and includes a 250GB hard drive to store homework locally. It's tough enough to withstand bumps and drops. However, this notebook's Intel Celeron N2840 CPU and 2GB of RAM are sluggish even when nothing is running. Despite the system's great keyboard and loud speakers, it's hard to recommend this laptop to students or to teachers who want to outfit classes with tech.

Made to be robust! Dell has combined an 11.6-inch laptop with an energy-efficient CPU. According to the manufacturer, this combination should enable the notebook to survive an entire day at school. We have decided to take a closer look at these claims. Find out whether the Latitude 3189 can keep what it promises in our detailed review.

The Dell Latitude 3189 2-in-1 laptop is built to take punishment, and that's its raison d'être. Its versatile screen caters to students working on individual and collaborative school projects, while its battery will last all day and then some. We prefer its long battery life and speedy SSD when compared with less-rugged laptops like the Dell Inspiron 3179. However, if durability and battery life are less of an issue for you (and you can stretch your budget a bit), the $799 Insprion 7378 is a better value overall, as it has a faster Core i5 processor, full HD screen, and has a larger-capacity SSD, and it holds on to its Editors' Choice for midrange convertible-hybrid laptops.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.
In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.
For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail):
Integrated GPU for tablet and notebook Bay Trail SoCs. Based on the Ivy Bridge GPU with four Execution Units and support for DirectX 11.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 505: Integrated low-end graphics adapter with DirectX 12 support, which can be found in some ULV SoCs from the Apollo Lake series.

Intel Pentium:
N3540: Soc with an integrated quad core Atom processor clocked at 2.16 - 2.66 GHz and an Intel HD Graphics GPU.
Pentium N4200: An Apollo Lake family, quad-core, ultra-low-power processor (SoC) that saw the light of day in 2016. Its four CPU cores run at 1.1 GHz to 2.5 GHz; these are not Hyper-Threading-enabled meaning there are no additional threads. This chip has a fairly competent integrated graphics solution, the Intel HD Graphics 505, and eats very little (~6 W). The Pentium N4200 is based on the Goldmont CPU microarchitecture that came to replace Silvermont (2013), bringing with it several welcome improvements. The CPU is Secure Boot-compatible; technically, it will have no issue running 64-bit Windows 11. The average N4200 in our database competes with the Core i5-3339Y, a low-power SoC launched in 2013, in multi-thread performance.
Intel Celeron:
N2840: Soc with an integrated dual core Atom processor clocked at up to 2.58 GHz and an Intel HD Graphics GPU.

68.7%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
