Dell Blog leaks 2012 XPS 15 core specs

Teaser
The still-rumored 15.6-inch 2012 XPS should be carrying Ivy Bridge cores with dedicated GeForce 6xxM GPUs, although launch windows are still unknown

The 2011 XPS 15 (L502X) left us impressed in our review early last year, but a 2012 update to this 15.6-incher is still in the shadows.

According to an unofficial Dell Blog, however, the 2012 XPS 15 may be just around the corner. Dubbed the L521X, the source claims that the model will be configurable with a number of upcoming Ivy Bridge CPUs from a dual-core Core i5-3210M up to a quad-core Core i7-3612QM. Discrete graphics are “probably Nvidia GeForce” GPUs, although whether or not they will be 6xxMs or 5xxMs is not stated.

Otherwise, the rest of the rumored specs appear similar to the 2011 model, including the 15.6-inch 1080p display, 2GB to 8GB of RAM, Blu-Ray drive and 2.5-inch HDD/SSD storage options accompanied by an optional mSATA SSD.

Even if the supposed spec leaks are somehow proven false, we still expect Dell to make some sort of official announcement regarding a 2012 XPS lineup in the coming months, especially with the imminent launch of Ivy Bridge heading our way. Expected launch dates and pricing are still out of reach.
