Computex 2015 | Microdia announces 512GB MicroSD card

Teaser
Microdia will soon release an incredibly fast MicroSD card with 512GB of storage.

MicroSD cards are versatile little devices that can be used in a lot of different setups. They are great for photographers and mobile users alike who need storage for taking photos or just an extra drive to hold files and apps. The company Microdia has created a 512GB MicroSD card that is scheduled to release soon. Its closest competition is a SanDisk card announced in March, but it has only half the storage space, 200GB, and will be hard-pressed to outmatch the Microdia in terms of speed.

Microdia's Xtra Elite is also incredibly fast. According to the packaging, it features an Ultra High Speed bus meaning read and write speeds of up to 300MB/s; a lot quicker than other MicroSD cards. It uses Secure Digital version 4.0 as well. The biggest caveat of the Xtra Elite is its price tag. It will cost somewhere around $1,000, but the exact price is not yet known.

Aimed at photographers needing large capacity and blazing fast transfer speeds, this card could very well find its niche against cheaper cards with less storage space. Although the price seems a bit exorbitant, it will probably drop in the future as other manufacturers scramble to catch up. The Microdia Xtra Elite will release sometime in July.
