The GamiBook 8 is a new laptop featuring a Ryzen 7 APU. It sports a relatively large IPS screen, a fingerprint sensor for quick unlocking and two full-fledged USB Type-C ports.
The manufacturer Blackview is probably mostly known for its usually rugged smartphones and tablets, but the brand is now offering a new laptop called the GamiBook 8. It can be ordered at the company’s official online store for prices starting at $779. Shipping, taxes and potential import fees are extra, and enforcing warranty claims might be difficult in case of a defect.
Anyhow, this laptop weighs almost 4 lbs and measures around 14.2 x 9.6 x 0.75 inches. It also comes with a 16-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a brightness of up to 330 nits. Blackview further advertises a screen-to-body ratio of 88%, and the display hinge can be opened by 180 degrees, which allows the laptop to lay flat on a table, for instance.
The GamiBook 8 is powered by an AMD chipset, specifically the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS. It’s equipped with either 16GB or 32GB DDR5 RAM, which can be expanded to 64GB after purchase. The built in M.2 2280 SSD offers 512GB or 1TB of capacity, while external storage devices can be connected via the two USB Type-C ports. The remaining connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, USB 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 and an SD card slot. Last but not least, the 16-inch Blackview laptop has a 1MP webcam, a 57Wh battery with 65W fast charging and it runs on Windows 11 right out of the box.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
